The University Of Punjab Lahore
The University of Punjab is one of the foremost, illustrious higher education institutes of Pakistan. This highly prestigious public research university is situated in the heart of Lahore. The Higher Education Commission highly ranks PU. The HEC and PEC recognize all degree programs offered by the University. The University is also a notable and active member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities of the United Kingdom.
The first ever campus of PU was established by the British in Lahore (1882), after which many satellite campuses of the University were constructed in other major cities of Pakistan like Gujranwala, Jhelum, and Khanspura.

The foundations of the multi-campus University of Punjab were laid down by the British Colonial Authorities. It was the 4th largest institute of higher education established by the British Government in the subcontinent. The Punjab University was established as educational reform in the repercussions of war of Independence (1857). The University of Punjab was different from other Universities built by the British Government. The Punjab University was established as teaching, examining and research institution, unlike the previously established institute which was only teaching institutes. The Punjab University served the educational requirements of the entire subcontinent till partition. During the process of separation, the Punjab University was divided into two portions. The Indian Portion of the PU is situated in Chandigarh, India. Many major institutions that were previously affiliated with Punjab University have now become independent universities on their own, such as Government College University, Lahore and Medical and Engineering Colleges.

The highly reputed institution is situated in the historically and culturally significant city of Lahore. The Punjab University has two campuses in Lahore. The Allama Iqbal Campus is colloquially known as the old campus is conveniently located on Lower Mall Road. Whereas the new Campus which is called Quaid-e-Azam Campus is situated at the Canal Bank Road, Lahore. Both the campuses are easily approachable. The campus buildings have a state of the art infrastructure.
